well, songs are poetry too, just less abstract. I wrote a poem once... and it was simple.
"A cat"
There's once a cat
A cat, cat, cat
Who ate a rat
A rat, rat, rat
And fell into a sleep
A sleep, a very deep sleep
Soon it was another day
Another day.
Not abstract, and everyone understands... so nobody is hurt. :)
